Chengdu is a much bigger city than Kunming. We explored parts of the huge city centre on foot, checking out the ATMs to find one where my card works. We had an excellent bargain at dinner time. The new restaurants here give great discounts like a Y60 discount for evey Y100 spent. There’s also great Taiwanese snowice dessert here too. Most interesting is their dizzying underground shopping network named 第一大道。 Bought a new pair of trekking boots for the little one. Only Y60 a pair from one of the numerous shops having a clearance sale. It’s a thriving city with carcasses of shops stripped to bare bones by landlords lying everywhere.
I fell asleep while reading at about 9pm and didn’t wake up till 8am. That’s how sleep -deprived we’ve been for the last week. We went to the 熊猫基地 and spent the whole day there. The little one loved it. Let me assure you that if you love pandas, forget about the River Safari. Come to Chengdu and see them here.
We are only doing soft adventure day trips around Chengdu these few days. Will report in greater detail when we’re home.
