We landed safely at 2215 this evening. Chengdu’s airport is so big. The plane had to taxi for 10mins at a relatively high speed before we arrived at the correct part of the terminal building. Immigration clearance and baggage collection was fast, but we had a brief introduction to Sichuan “hospitality” when two young ladies cut right in front of us in the taxi queue. The taxi driver refused to open the boot for us to dump our backpacks and he nearly lost the way.
Nevertheless, the “new” Traffic Inn is a slightly rundown establishment which must have been a very decent mid-range hotel in its previous life. Nice, spacious room, comfortable bed, air-con, free soap and shampoo, hot shower, TV and a desktop computer with free internet access for only S$35++ (S$40) a night. In fact, the main signboard facing the road still tells us that it’s Kai Bing Hotel.
The temperature tonight is a very mild 12 deg C, but I’m sure it’s freezing up there ar Kangding. It’ll probably be even colder if I decide to sing Kangding Love Song. More updates when I reach Kangding. I’d appreciate it if friends of mine can help me share this on my Facebook wall.
See you tomorrow morning.
