It’s Day 7 post-op. There’s still some swelling, but I’ve been practically pain-free for the last 4 days. I’ve finished all my antibiotics and getting a bit of diarrhoea from the change in gut microflora. Let’s hope some probiotics will take care of that.
I notice that the swelling is always least when I get up in the morning. It gets progressively worse at midday. Nevertheless, keeping the feet elevated does help.
I arrived at Ardmore Orthopaedic Clinic at about 1020 today; a little late for a 1000 appointment thanks to an unexpected traffic jam on the CTE. Dr Sean had informed me earlier that he would be changing the dressing. After the old dressing was removed, I saw my feet for the first time after the surgery.

It’s called a minimally invasive procedure, but the bulk of the damage took place under the skin. Can you roughly visualise where the titanium screws are?

There is significant bruising; a bit more on my right side, even though the deformity was more severe on the left side, but as you can see, my bunions are gone! It’s still way too early to plan for a shoe shopping trip and the stitches will stay for another week. In the meantime, I got a new dressing along with a spacer for my toes. The dressing is a lot thinner than the previous one. With it, I can walk a lot better without rolling over my soles.

However, I’m a bit concerned about the spacer because I have used them before and they made my toes itch. Keeping my fingers crossed that these won’t cause any itchiness.
Next update, Day 14.
