This is a civilian version of the aluminium mess tin bought for $15 at Decathlon. I’m yet to test it, but it’s pretty light and made from stainless steel, it’s sturdier and more difficult to dent than the soft military mess tin.
To get started, lift and push back the handles. Then, you can remove the cover. The inside of cooking set reveals a bowl and a fork, a spoon and a knife. The capacity is 1.1 litres at the highest marking (1cm from the brim).
This set is probably good for boiling water to cook noodles or warm up a can of soup or stew. It might fry an egg, but I suspect it might get messy.
There is a non-stick version of this pot (for frying) out there. It costs $30 and the reviews aren’t that great. I guess it’s not exactly non-stick.
